Taiwan Village started as a humble takeaway shop on King Street, Melbourne, serving a handful of loyal customers who loved authentic Taiwanese food. With just 15 seats and a small kitchen, our mission was clear: to share the true flavours of Taiwan with the people of Melbourne.
Our crispy Taiwanese fried chicken, hearty oyster vermicelli, and aromatic three cup chicken quickly won the hearts (and tastebuds) of locals. Word spread, queues formed, and before long, we were ready to grow.
We moved to Carlton, embracing a bigger space in one of Melbourne’s most vibrant dining districts. And now, we’re proud to announce our latest expansion — a brand new location in West Melbourne (Spencer Street), just steps from Southern Cross Station.
Our head chef, Chef Huang, grew up in Taiwan surrounded by the flavours of bustling night markets and the comfort of home-style meals. Years of experience in both Taiwan and Australia have shaped a cooking style that honours tradition while embracing Melbourne’s diverse food culture.
Every dish is prepared with care, from the marinated fried chicken that crackles with flavour to the rich, comforting broth of our oyster vermicelli.
Whether you visit our Carlton restaurant or our new Spencer Street location, you’ll find more than just food — you’ll find a taste of Taiwan’s warmth and hospitality.
The sizzling woks, the fragrant mix of soy, garlic, and basil, and the laughter of guests around the table all create a dining experience that’s as much about connection as it is about cuisine.
From King Street takeaway shop to two busy restaurants, our journey is one of passion, persistence, and community support. We welcome collaborations with media outlets, food bloggers, and culinary storytellers to share the story of Taiwan Village and its mission to bring Taiwanese cuisine to the heart of Melbourne.
